Hands-On Workshop

Sign up early for this one. It's a rare opportunity to spend a day in the shop with America's plane maker extraordinaire, Thomas Lie-Nielsen. During the morning session, Thomas and his assistant will coach students in using their own sharpening stones to put extremely sharp edges on the students' own plane irons and other edge tools. The afternoon will be devoted to helping students master setting up and using their planes for optimum results. By the time you leave this class, you should be capable of removing wispy-thin shavings that leave exquisitely smooth surfaces, and much more.

Be sure to bring your edge tools and sharpening stones to practice with. If you own a Lie-Nielsen plane, or purchase one in time for the class, Thomas will personally engrave his autograph on it.
