Hands-On Workshop

Join wooden plane maker, Scott Meek, as he guides you through crafting your very own wooden smoothing plane. Scott will cover how to best select materials, plan for the proper design layout for achieving optimum results, tips for tweaking the critical mouth opening for successfully planing stubborn grain and how to personalize the plane’s shape to fit your own hands and style of working.
Using a well-tuned wooden plane is a tactile woodworking experience like no other and a plane that you’ve made yourself is even all the more rewarding to use. Let Scott’s plane making expertise help you avoid the pitfalls that often result with woodworkers making their first plane. From this class you’ll get to take home a plane that will proudly serve you for years to come, along with some new skills for you to apply to making other types and sizes of planes for your future woodworking endeavors.
