Anant No. 77 Bullnose Rabbet Plane

Modeled on the old Record 77, this bullnose plane has two shims for adjusting the throat opening and a removable nose for chisel plane work. Now, this plane isn't going to win any beauty pageants or awards for machining excellence, but it's a bargain for someone who doesn't mind some fettling.

Consider, the Stanley 90 Bullnose Plane is $110, so a little time spent tuning doesn't seem out of the question. It took us about 45 minutes in total to sharpen the blade, file rough edges and to sand smooth some of the surfaces. It would make an ideal back-up plane or one you wouldn't mind taking out of the shop to a job. Sole is 4" long. Overall length is 5-1/4". Blade width is 1-1/8".
