Bosch 1618EVS D-Handle Router
|
1618EVS
|
Detailed Description
Bosch's routers are sweet machines, with all the power you need for routing on any scale and state of the art features that rank them among the most user-friendly routers on the market. 12-amp soft-start motors run at speeds from 8,000 to 25,000 RPM. Constant-torque circuitry guarantees full power at any speed regardless of load. Model 1618EVS is a D-handle design, providing positive control of the machine, and putting a trigger switch right under your index finger; it's fine for any hand-held work, and is ideal for use with dovetail jigs and other template-guide operations. Model 1617EVS has 2 close-in polished wood handles positioned low on the base for superb control.
Depth of cut is set with one of the best systems we've seen on fixed-based routers: a threaded micro-adjuster gives you visible, repeatable accuracy on a scale smaller than 1/256". A quick-release clamp locks the motor in the base for very rapid macro-adjustment in 1/2" increments. The motor rotates 180° within the base to get the power cord out of your way, or (on 1617EVS) to put the switch and speed control at your right or left fingertips. Bosch's quick-connect Clic Template Guides mount accurately concentric around bits, and sub-bases are mounted with pan-head screws so you can center them perfectly for jig guided work. Precision-milled magnesium base and lower motor housings are not only much stronger than aluminum but so light that the 1618EVS weighs only 7.5 lbs.
Deep-bored spindles allow safe, stable mounting of every bit shank without bottoming out, no matter how long; standard 1/2" & 1/4" (optional 8mm & 3/8") collets hold bits securely and release them reliably. Model 1618's reversible auxiliary handle makes the router equally comfortable for left or right-handed use. Notice to residents of California: Click here to view Proposition 65 warning
