Berger Woodturners Sphere Caliper

If your attempts at turning perfect spheres have you thinking of joining the flat earth society, these calipers will round out your turning skills in short order. Tailor made for laying out the cut lines to turn spheres on the lathe, the Berger caliper automatically calculates the correct layout dimensions to mark on your work piece. The process of creating a spherical shape is simplified to a step by step series of straight cuts where you basically cut off corners and go from 4 to 8 to a 16 sided shape .The final curved cuts connecting the flats can be made with the tool of your choice like a spindle gouge, skew chisel or shear scraper. The caliper is beautifully constructed from solid stainless steel and measures 10" long. Instructions included.
