Festool didn't invent the compound miter saw, yet with the creation of the Kapex KS 120 tool they certainly can take credit for injecting a huge dose of innovation to this genre of power tool.
The Kapex Sliding Compound Miter Saw has a unique “rail forward” design that includes a pair of large (30mm dia.), stationary rails on the front side of the saw. The wide spacing of the rails adds stability & rigidity and because the Kapex's head assembly slides, there are no protruding rails behind the saw; allowing you to situate the tool much closer to a wall in your shop than other miter saws of comparable cutting capacity. This feature, combined with the small foot print (24” x 28”) & light weight of the magnesium alloy base, make it a space saving tool that is easy to transport.
The Kapex KS 120 is the first variable speed miter saw - a 1400-3400 rpm variable speed, 1600 watt, 13 amp motor powers the 10” (260 mm), 60T carbide-tipped blade & provides a cutting capacity at 90° of 12” x 3-1/2” & 8-7/16” x 3-7/16” at 45°. Miter cuts can be adjusted to the left up to 50° & to the right up to 60°. In addition, a special cutting position allows for cutting 3/4” material up to 4-11/16” high. The compound tilt mechanism moves smoothly & is perfectly balanced anywhere along the 47° left & right swing. A large twist knob allows you to dial in the compound angle setting with micro-adjustability.
The Kapex's dual lasers display the cutting edges of the blade as dotted lines, making it easy to see your pencil line beneath the projected laser line. Measuring, calculating & cutting for bisected angles are simplified with Festool's MiterFast angle transfer tool. Used like a bevel square to pick up the work angle, you then lay the tool on the saw, lining up the laser lines to the center handle of the tool to arrive at the correct bisect angle to cut. And with a vacuum connected, you'll be amazed at the amount of sawdust captured when cutting.

The Kapex Miter Saw comes with a 60T Carbide blade, the MiterFast Transfer Tool, a workpiece hold-down clamp & blade wrench.
The MFT3 optional work table measures 32” x 21”, stands 31” high & has folding legs with a floor leveler. Optional clamping kit secures the saw to the table.
