Ox-Head hatchets and axes have been manufactured in Wuppertal, Germany since 1781. The name is synonymous with quality and functional beauty among foresters, carpenters and boatbuilders world-wide. Each axe is expertly and carefully manufactured to the highest standards. Particular attention is paid to careful hardening of the steels, which accounts for the long-lasting sharpness in Ox-Head tools.
Ox-Head is the official supplier of axes for the Stihl Timbersports Series.
These are general-purpose axes: their heads are thicker and heavier than felling axes, but have much more taper than a splitting maul. If you have occasional use for an axe, but aren't using it exclusively for either splitting or felling, one of these will take good care of you. The small version has a 2.2 lb. head, 4-3/4" wide blade, and 27-1/2" ash handle. Medium version has a 3.5 lb. head, 5-3/4" wide blade, and 31" handle. Large version has a 4.4 lb. head, 6" wide blade, and 35" handle.
