These are the router table equivalent of your table saw's zero-clearance throat plate. Brass inserts fit universal-style template guide openings in most router subbases. They minimize the opening around your router bits, helping keep detritus out of running router motors and supporting workpieces as close to the cutting point as possible. Most important, they prevent workpieces from dipping below the table surface as they pass the bit, a problem that leads to ruined work and frayed nerves at best. Particularly helpful for cutting dovetailed tenons for sliding dovetail joints. Includes a retaining nut and inserts with openings of 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", and 1".
