Veritas Carver's Screw

A carver's screw is a simple and economical way to hold work pieces to your bench without having to constantly move clamps. Just drill a 5/16" hole (to be plugged later) into the bottom of your project and run the short tapered section of the screw into that hole. The screw has a hexagonal cross section so you can tighten it with a wrench. The assembly fastens underneath the bench through a dog hole with a star knob. Overall screw length is 5". Works on benches up to 3-1/2" thick.
