The Veritas Skew Jig replaces the standard registration jig on the Veritas® MkII Honing Guide. It sets the bevel angle and the skew angle on left and right skew blades and chisels. It handles bevel angles of 20°, 25°, 30° & 35° and skew angles from 10° to 45°.
The Skew Jig works on all sizes of our Crown skew chisels, Lie-Nielsen side rabbet and skew block planes and the Kunz 79 Side Rabbet Plane. With some improvising and imagination, it'll accommodate almost any hand woodworking tool you're likely to encounter. Although its guide pin and sliding fence offer very positive blade positioning, it's possible to cause the blade to slip if you bear down too hard. If this happens, we suggest honing with a lighter touch with downward pressure only on the pull stroke.
