When you're marking with a knife, layout lines can be transferred around a corner from one surface to another both easily and precisely using an ordinary steel square. When you're marking with a pencil, however, accurate transfer is much more of a challenge, and that's where a good saddle square comes into its own. The 1-1/4" by 2-1/4" legs of this small aluminum square wrap right around 90 corners, letting you mark with a pencil nearly as precisely as with a knife. Just 2" wide, the saddle square is especially easy to use on small work.
