Deluxe Sliding Table Kit

A good sliding crosscut table for your table saw will quickly become an accessory you can't imagine doing without. It'll cut stock far longer and wider than your miter guide can handle. A well-designed sliding table can be a precise and remarkably safe 90° crosscut jig. Ours is a very good design. It accommodates stock up to 24" wide, and crosscuts boards up to 6' long with no additional support. With outboard support, you can trim 1/2" from the end of a 7' door—maybe you don't need a radial arm saw after all.

At the heart of the kit is a pair of our solid phenolic runners. Along with the runners we provide a thermo-formed genuine Lexan blade path cover, an unbreakable clear-as-glass safety device that won't get in your way but will keep your fingers out of trouble. To complete the kit you'll need a piece of 1/2" or 3/4" plywood roughly 3 x 3 feet, and plywood or solid lumber to make two fences 1-1/2" thick by 4-1/2" high by 37" long. We provide a detailed plan for mounting the runners, laying out a perfect perpendicular, and mounting the fences square. The plan covers making & mounting an exit block to keep the blade covered as you complete a cut, and making a safety stop and a fine handle.
