Our broad range of wood files and rasps includes some of the best machine and handmade tools available.

Auriou files and rasps are handmade at the Forge de Saint Juéry by skilled craftsmen who have used the same traditional forging techniques for over 150 years. Auriou's Rasps are "hand stitched", one tooth at a time, producing an irregular pattern of carefully sized, triangular pointed teeth which prevents furrowing and provides a superior finish. Select artisan blacksmiths, grinders and stitchers are the heart of this small family business that has survived for generations, a testament to the high quality of their tools.

Machine made Iwasaki files cut five times faster than conventional rasps, and far more smoothly than other files. Their tooth design incorporates a chip breaker to prevent clogging and they actually create ultra mini-shavings that look as if they came from a tiny plane. The resulting surface does not require sanding before finishing, unless you just really enjoy sanding.
