Second only to sharp tools, the most important thing needed to build furniture & cabinets with success is to begin with flat, parallel-sided stock, that has edges that are perfectly square. Unfortunately, the wood from a lumber yard is rarely flat and true when you bring it home.
This class will show how to use your jointer, planer and table saw to properly dress and prepare your stock in a uniform manner so it will glue up and assemble flawlessly. You’ll learn the techniques and tips to efficiently go from crooked and rough to smooth and square, while learning to read the grain for the best cutting results from your machines.
If you’ve yet to acquire your shop power tools and want to know what to get and how to use them, or you just want to learn how to utilize your existing tools with predictable results, let Jay Wiggins show you the steps involved to successfully prep your lumber for use in your fine furniture projects.

Students withdrawing from a class must notify Highland Hardware 10 or more days prior to the beginning of the class to receive full credit or refund. No refund or credit will be issued with less than 10 days' notice. For labor intensive or multiple day courses, we reserve the right to issue special refund stipulations which will be noted in the class advertisement at the time of posting.
