Wood News is Back!
For the first half of Highland Hardware's
30 years of service to woodworkers, our Wood News newsletter was the store's number one way to keep
our woodworkers informed and help them learn more about woodworking. When we merged Wood News into
the Highland Hardware catalog in 1992, the old out-of-print issues eventually became collectors
items.
Thanks to the internet, Wood News lives again! Highland Woodworking customers who've sent us
their email addresses receive Wood News electronically. For FREE! Each issue is a mini woodworking
magazine, with feature articles about new tools, techniques, projects, books, events and other items
of interest to woodworkers.
As with the original form of Wood News, we actively solicit contributions of editorial material
(articles, photos, woodworking tips and videos) from our customers and readership, and for every one
we accept and publish, we compenstate the contributor with a store gift certificate. An article a
thousand words (or longer) with photos earns a $100 HW gift certificate. The amount of the gift
certificate is prorated for shorter articles. Articles submitted may be edited by us, and
compensation is based on the published length. Compensation for videos submitted and accepted will
be determined on a case by case basis.
So, you're invited to write a review of a new woodworking tool. Or even a favorite old tool. Tell
us (and our readers) step-by-step how you built a project or cut a joint or applied a wood finish.
Or show us in a video. Share with the world an interesting woodworking technique that has worked for
you. Impressed by a woodworking book you've read? Write a review for Wood News.
(Non-profit organizations are welcome to submit free public service announcements that are of
general interest to woodworkers, such as meeting dates, membership info, etc.)
To submit an article (or an idea for an article), email us at woodnews@highlandwoodworking.com. Please include a few biographical
sentences about your woodworking experience. At the time an article is submitted, you must also read
and sign our Wood News Contributor's agreement (available as an online
form or a printable PDF).
(No compensation is paid for public service announcements, which are published at our
discretion.)
