Detailed Description
Our model 114102 Hoffman and Hammer premium German woodworking workbench was selected by Fine Woodworking as "Best Value in a Ready-Made Workbench," December 2007.
The workmanship that goes into this fine woodworking workbench is simply outstanding. Joints are as perfect as most of us usually just wish for; solid beech stock is straight, clear and beautifully finished. This midsize workbench model comes complete, ready for assembly. (Bolt the stretchers to the legs, then lay on the topyou're done.) It has a shoulder vise with wooden jaw mounted flush with the left end of the bench, a tail vise with a dog hole in the moving jaw, vise handles, and pair of steel bench dogs. A full-length tool well with clean-out ramps runs along the rear of the work surface, and there's a center-mounted drawer as well.
The medium workbench is 71" long by 22" wide, with front edge 3-1/2" thick for rigidity under the heaviest use. It weighs 132 lbs. Its shoulder vise is 16-1/2" wide, with 8" working opening. The same hardware is used for the tail vise, this time with a 14-1/2" wooden jaw with a dog hole at the left end.
