Detailed Description
Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 9:00am to 5:00pm
Class Size: 8
Hands-On Workshop
Both hollow forms and bowls are turned from end-grain. The primary difference between these two forms is in the relationship of the vessel and the body. The rim of a bowl is the widest part of the piece whereas the rim of a vessel is narrower than the body. The challenge in turning hollow vessels is in mastering the particular tools and techniques specific to this form. Frank will cover wood grain orientation, chucking and methods of mounting your work piece on the lathe. He will also share important tips and tricks to help you achieve consistent wall thickness in your projects.
This is an intermediate-level class. Some turning experience will be very helpful if you are to get the most out of this class. All tools and materials are included.
