Among our most popular bits, they're indispensable for routing mortises with a plunge router, doing the job cleaner and faster than practically any other method. High speed steel bits are a good choice for economy when you don't do a great deal of mortising or trim work.

Carbide bits cost more up front but will hold their edges longer, particularly in abrasive, synthetic or treated materials.
