Detailed Description
Lie-Nielsen No. 51 Shoot Board Plane - Right Hand
This new single-purpose plane is designed to trim miters and other end grain cuts on a shooting board.
Stanley first built its version of the plane in 1909 along with a metal shooting board.
Lie-Nielsen's version of this tool utilizes a standard 2-3/8" Bench Plane Blade and Frog, and is heavier
than the original Stanley model. The shoot board plane is 15" long, 3-9/16" wide,
with a shoulder height of 2-1/8", and weighs just over
9 pounds. The frog is skewed to the sole at a 20 degree angle. For those lucky enough to possess
one of the original Stanley 52 Chute Boards, the Lie-Nielsen No. 51 shoot board plane is designed to
fit it correctly. Lie-Nielsen plans to offer a companion Shooting Board in the future.
