Ox-Head Big Ox Splitting Maul

Ox-Head hatchets and axes have been manufactured in Wuppertal, Germany since 1781. The name is synonymous with quality and functional beauty among foresters, carpenters and boatbuilders world-wide. Particular attention is paid to careful hardening of the steels, which accounts for the long-lasting sharpness in Ox-Head tools.

The Ox-Head Big Ox is a serious splitting maul. Its massive, forged 6.6lb head is attached to a 35-1/2" hickory handle using the patented ROTBAND-PLUS System. The handle sleeve, tapered collar, fixing plate and wood screw bond the hammer head and the handle into one unit to ensure maximum safety. The handle sleeve also provide protection and against handle damage in case of overstrike. The 2-3/4" cutting edge should make quick work of most splitting jobs. For heavier work, use the 2" x 1-1/2" striking face to drive wedges.
