Detailed Description
Ox-Head hatchets and axes have been manufactured in Wuppertal, Germany since 1781. The name is synonymous with quality and functional beauty among foresters, carpenters and boatbuilders world-wide. Each axe is expertly and carefully manufactured to the highest standards. Particular attention is paid to careful hardening of the steels, which accounts for the long-lasting sharpness in Ox-Head tools.
Ox-Head is the official supplier of axes for the Stihl Timbersports Series.
A better name might be "woodworking hatchet"; this is nothing like the shingle hatchet American carpenters used to carry. With its wide, thin blade and 15" ash handle, the carpentry hatchet is an excellent trimming tool for carving blanks and other billets that need paring or shaping before fine work can commence.
