Detailed Description
Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Class Size: 8
Hands-On Workshop
One of the first skills that a woodturner needs to learn is how to properly sharpen his/her tools. There is a direct relationship between sharp tools and the ability to turn well. Students will learn how to sharpen the three major gouges, e.g., roughing gouge, spindle gouge, and bowl gouge, the parting tool, the bedan and the skew, and a scraper using a grinder, the OneWay grinding jig (Wolverine and Vari-grind), and a waterstone.
This class is especially helpful for beginning turners as well as those who have been turning for some time, but have never learned how to produce a sharp edge. Practice tools will be supplied, but students are encouraged to bring their own tools.
CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY
Highland Woodworking reserves the right to cancel any class. Full refunds will be issued in that event. Students withdrawing from a class must notify Highland Woodworking 10 or more days prior to the beginning of the class to receive full credit or refund. No refund or credit will be issued with less than 10 days' notice.
For labor intensive or multiple day courses, we reserve the right to issue special refund stipulations which will be noted in the class advertisement at the time of posting. Additional InformationMeet the Highland Woodworking Instructors
