Success in wood carving is difficult to achieve without sharp tools. A properly sharpened tool enables your energy and focus to stay on the task of bringing forth your carved design and minimizes chances for mistakes or injuries that happen as a result of excessive force applied in trying to make a dull edge cut. The myriad of profiles available for carving tools can make keeping all the different shaped edges sharp a daunting task. Let Sabiha teach you how to hone your carving tool sharpening skills, so you can keep your tools cutting at peak performance. The class will cover sharpening gouges with shallow and deep sweeps, veiners, V-tools, skews and straight chisels. You’ll learn how to hone rough factory-ground edges so they’re ready for use, as well as how to perform quick-hone tune-ups when edges need a light freshening.
