SuperNova2 Lathe Chuck

Teknatool's SuperNova2 4-jaw scroll chuck incorporates the latest in chucking technology. Its 4" steel body is nickel plated for long life. Its quick-ratio scroll mechanism is driven by a ball end hex wrench, which is easy to insert and can be tilted away from your workpiece to avoid interference. The composite backplate encloses the back of the body to keep out dust and dirt and it includes twenty-four 3mm indexing holes for precision positioning.

For all spindle sizes, except 33mm-3.5, a threaded insert (sold separately, see chart and related products below) is required to adapt the chuck to your lathe.

For lathes with a 33mm-3.5 spindle, we carry a SuperNova2 which is directly threaded. It will not accept other threaded inserts and cannot be used on any other size spindle.

The SuperNova2 comes complete with 2" jaws, a woodworm chuck screw, a 7" long, and a T-handle ball end hex wrench.

Jaws

• 1", 2" and 3" Bowl Jaws and 4" & 5" Jumbo Jaws are smooth steel jaws for use in dovetail recesses and spigots.
• Pin Jaws are designed to hold workpieces by gripping inside pre-drilled holes. In addition, they have a small dovetail for gripping small workpieces.
• Step Jaws are designed primarily for external chucking. The three smooth steps allow you to grip a broad size range with a single set of jaws.
• Spigot Jaws are smooth on the outside for gripping in dovetailed recesses, but serrated on the inside for secure external chucking of larger workpieces.
• Long Nose Jaws have similar capacity to 2" jaws, but when chucking internally, they hold the workpiece about 1-1/2" away from the chuck for better tool access. When chucking externally, long nose jaws are immensely powerful serrated spigot jaws—able to hold spigots up to 2" long.
• Cole Jaws are large, flat aluminum plates. Rubber bumpers serve as padded jaws for positive, non-marring holding of nearly finished turnings. They hold objects too large for any other chuck, and they're especially useful for reverse chucking bowls. Each set comes with 8 rubber bumpers sufficient for almost any need. Mini Cole Jaws are designed especially to work on mini lathes with swing as little as 10".
• The Chuck Spur Center mounts in the chuck and allows you to turn between centers without removing the chuck.
• The thin profile 1-1/2" Insert Spanner, though not required, makes quick work of removing threaded inserts from the chuck body.
