Hands-On Workshop

This class will cover the fundamentals of making pens, a fun and non-threatening way to become acquainted with turning. Frank will discuss wood species, pen styles, various stock preparation methods, tool selection and, of course, basic lathe safety. You will practice pen turning techniques on wood scraps, then move on to exotic woods for your finished product. You will go home with one or two completed pens and the skills to produce any number of small turned objects. All tools & materials will be provided.

This class is considered suitable for teens who are at least 13 years of age. A parent or legal guardian must be present if a minor is to participate in the class.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY Highland Woodworking reserves the right to cancel any class. Full refunds will be issued in that event. Students withdrawing from a class must notify Highland Woodworking 10 or more days prior to the beginning of the class to receive full credit or refund. No refund or credit will be issued with less than 10 days' notice. For labor intensive or multiple day courses, we reserve the right to issue special refund stipulations which will be noted in the class advertisement at the time of posting.
