Veritas Low Angle Spokeshave

The Veritas Low Angle Spokeshave really is an improvement over conventional designs. Like some of the best shaves on the market today, it's based on 19th century wooden spokeshave design. A wide blade, bevel down, actually serves as part of the sole of the shave. Veritas has realized that one needn't adjust the iron to change depth of cut; it's much easier to adjust the toe piece forward of the blade instead. Thus they've created a shave with a rock solid blade mount, simple, inexpensive hardware design, and an easily adjusted reversible toe piece that can handle flat or concave work equally well. The shave's body is solid die-cast aluminum, which gives it nice heft for its small size. The 2" wide, 1/8" thick blade is made of extremely hard A2 tool steel, which holds an edge several times longer than regular high-carbon steel. Overal width is 10-1/2".
