Bad Axe's goal is simple: To make handsaws like those from a traditional 19th century American sawmaker's shop. In our opinion, they have wildly surpassed that goal in creating these handsome to the core, heirloom quality handsaws. Bad Axe handsaws cut beautifully, tracking to your cut lines with uncanny precision. Their effortless, drift-free sawing, will increase the accuracy of your work; delighting experienced hand tool users and exciting newcomers who have struggled getting accurate cuts using ordinary handsaws.

The 12" Hybrid Saw has a 14 ppi hybrid tooth filing. It makes pleasing dovetail cuts, but more relaxed than a standard rip filing to provide clean crosscuts on tenons. To create the hybrid tooth design Bad Axe uses a little more rake angle and more fleam (bevel) on the teeth than typical with rip saws, resulting in backsaws great for rip cuts and fantastic for crosscuts too. If you need a saw for large scale projects we also offer this hybrid tooth design on the 16" Tenon Saw. If you can only have one backsaw for all your saw joinery needs, the 12" Hybrid Saw is the one. Depth of cut is 2-7/16". Plate thickness is .02". Overall length 17"

The Bad Axe joinery saws we offer have solid cherry handles that are classic in form, and take to one's handgrip comfortably and securely. The hybrid 12" dovetail/small tenon saw has an open-tote handle design. Its solid steel back adds additional mass that helps start and maintain straight cuts. It has a black-oxide finish that gives a deep-charcoal gray, gun metal-like luster. With their traditional and time-tested folded design, the sawbacks are sprung onto the Swedish high-carbon spring steel sawplate's spine. This enables the user to re-tension the blade should a need arise and forgives sloppy saw handling. Polished brass nuts accent beautifully, while securely holding the handle to the blade.

Please note: Our inventory of Bad Axe saws come equipped with “regular” sized handles for fitting hands measuring 3-5/8" to 3-7/8" across the palm, below the fingers. If you need a handle for larger or smaller hands, you would need to purchase your saw direct from Bad Axe.
