Bad Axe's goal is simple: to make dovetail saws like those from a traditional 19th century American sawmaker's shop. In our opinion, they have wildly surpassed that goal in creating these handsome to the core, heirloom quality handsaws. Bad Axe dovetail saws cut beautifully, tracking to your cut lines with uncanny precision. Their effortless, drift-free sawing will increase the accuracy of your work; delighting experienced hand tool users and exciting newcomers who have struggled getting accurate cuts using ordinary dovetail saws.

After a few years in the design rumination phase, Bad Axe has brought to life their most recent brainchild, the 12" Stiletto Dovetail Saw. Based on the idea that with some things longer is better, Bad Axe figured not to settle for a shortened saw stroke that works against an accurate cut. Instead, they embraced a longer toothline in the blade that will track better with virtually no course deviations as you work back and forth. The Stiletto is filed with 15 ppi rip teeth and gives a 1-3/4" cutting depth. Plate thickness is .018". Overall length is 17".

The Bad Axe saws we offer have solid Mission White Oak handles that are classic in form, and take to one's handgrip comfortably and securely. The Stiletto has an open-tote handle design. The solid steel back adds additional mass that helps start and maintain straight cuts. It has a black-oxide finish that gives a deep charcoal gray, gun-metal-like luster. With their traditional and time-tested folded design, the sawbacks are sprung onto the Swedish high-carbon spring steel sawplate's spine. This enables the user to re-tension the blade should a need arise and forgives sloppy saw handling. Polished brass nuts accent beautifully, while securely holding the handle to the blade.

Please Note: Our inventory of Bad Axe saws come equipped with "regular" sized handles for fitting hands measuring 3-5/8" to 3-7/8" as measured across the palm, below the fingers. If you need a handle for larger or smaller hands, you would need to purchase your saw direct from Bad Axe.
