The Bad Axe 16" Tenon Saw is filed with a 12 ppi hybrid tooth design and as a result, lets you nicely handle both ripping tenon cheeks and crosscutting tenon shoulders. To create the hybrid tooth design Bad Axe uses a little less rake angle and less fleam (bevel) on the teeth than typical with crosscut saws, resulting in backsaws great for rip cuts or crosscuts. We also offer this hybrid tooth design on the 12" Dovetail/Small Tenon Saw. Some folks have named the Bad Axe 16" Tenon Saw "The Jack Saw", jack of all trades, capable of powering through deep joinery cuts, but controllable enough for medium and light joinery tasks as well. If you can't buy two saws for large scale tenon joinery, then this is the one saw to buy. Depth of cut is 4". Plate thickness is .025". Overall length is 21-1/2"

The Bad Axe saws we offer have solid hardwood handles that are classic in form, and take to one's handgrip comfortably and securely. The 16" tenon saw has a closed-loop handle design. Its solid steel back adds additional mass that helps start and maintain straight cuts. It has a black-oxide finish that gives a deep-charcoal gray, gun metal-like luster. With their traditional and time-tested folded design, the sawbacks are sprung onto the Swedish high-carbon spring steel sawplate's spine. This enables the user to re-tension the blade should a need arise and forgives sloppy saw handling. Polished brass nuts accent beautifully, while securely holding the handle to the blade.
