Detailed Description
Barr Tools Froe The froe is a simple tool used for splitting straight-grained wood. In use, the thick, blunt blade is driven into your stock with wooden maul or heavy mallet, and the handle is pulled or pushed as needed to direct the split's runout.
This froe is hand-forged in Idaho by master toolmaker Barr Quarton. It has a 10" iron blade fitted with a 17" handle, and weighs 4 lbs. (As with all hand forged tools, measurements are approximate and may vary from tool to tool.)
