Pathfinder's model uses one of the bevel gears he drew in his codices and creates a nice 2 to 1 increase in speed of the crankshaft, so the mast spins quickly, illustrating the manner in which this machine would have worked.\n\nA great kit for beginner to advanced model makers, this is a great way to learn about gears, flight and brings Leonardo’s iconic drawing to life. The design itself would have been incredibly groundbreaking for the time, no inventor\/engineer during that era had even considered a personal vehicle – of any kind (well, maybe a horse). A bicycle design was not seen until the 1800’s – over 300 years later!\n  \u003c\/p\u003e\n  \u003cp\u003e\n   It is widely accepted that the image was not drawn by Leonardo, very likely a pupil of his, and from the drawing, Pathfinders made a working model of what they think it might have looked like.
