Detailed Description
ECE Toothing Plane Some of our customers who work in historical settings and those who do high-end furniture restoration have asked us for a dedicated wooden toothing plane. A toothing plane, with its serrated cutting edge and high bed angle, will plane awkward grained wood like bird's eye maple without tearing. You can then clean up the tooth marks with a flat card scraper or leave them for an interesting textured surface. Many restorers use the toothing plane to prepare substrates for hammer veneering with hide glue. TPI on the iron is approximately 29.
ECE planes combine Emmerich's meticulous quality with the economy of traditional hammer-set irons secured with wooden wedges. Heavy irons are solidly bedded for smooth, clean performance. Bodies are dense European beech and soles are long-wearing hornbeam. As in all Emmerich planes, the workmanship is simply outstanding.
The ECE Toothing Plane has a beech body and with hornbeam sole. The 3/16" thick iron is bedded at 65° and is 1-7/8" wide. 8-3/4" long x 2-9/16" wide.
