Typical Lie Nielsen Blades are extra thick 1/8", made from Cryogenically treated A-2 steel tempered to Rockwell Rc 60-62,
to provide a longer lasting blade. Lie Nielsen's careful heat treatment produces a fine grain structure so that the blade
will take a very fine edge. Blades get a full surface grinding of the top, back and cutting edge, giving a smooth flat
surface requiring little honing before use.
