Class Description

If you’ve taken our bowl turning class, or never taken a turning class before, join Phil Colson as he guides you through the tools and techniques used to turn a variety of kitchen utensils. In this class, you will turn a honey dipper, spatula or spurtle. To start, Phil will walk you through wood selection, preparation, and lathe setup. Once you have things confidently spinning, he will go into the tools and techniques to get the most out of your block of wood in form and function.

Not only will you take home a useful kitchen implement, but you will also leave with an understanding of the concepts of spindle turning which can also be applied to turning bannister spindles, table and chair legs, magic wands, vampire stakes and much more!

All tools and materials will be provided but, as always, you're welcome to bring your favorite turning tool to learn how to sharpen and use it properly.

For your safety, when attending a hands-on class, be sure to wear closed toe footwear.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY

Highland Woodworking reserves the right to cancel any class. Full refunds will be issued in that event. Students withdrawing from a class must notify Highland Woodworking 10 or more days prior to the beginning of the class to receive full credit or refund. No refund or credit will be issued with less than 10 days' notice.

For labor intensive or multiple day courses, we reserve the right to issue special refund stipulations which will be noted in the class advertisement at the time of posting.
