Detailed Description
Norton Fine Bear-Tex Wheel with Bushing Master Chairmaker Curtis Buchanan recommends non-woven abrasive wheels to sharpen the difficult edges on inshaves, scorps, drawknives, axes, froes and adzes. These 6" x 1" wheels are made from synthetic fabric with abrasive particles imbedded throughout. Any tool that's too bulky or awkward to hold on a stone can be held with both hands while sharpening on these wheels. Since the wheels can be shaped with other abrasives, such as coarse sandpaper, you can tackle concave and convex bevels with comparable ease.
This fine wheel will polish an edge to roughly the equivalent of a 4000 grit water stone. Comes with a bushing to fit most grinders. While rated up to 6000 RPM, we recommend the slowest possible speed for safety and control.
NOTE: Wheels must spin in the direction marked on their labels. The tool's cutting edge should present to the wheel like you would with a buffing wheel, away from the direction of rotation to avoid digging into the wheel and causing damage or injury.
