Hornbeam sole is 2-1\/8\" by 9-1\/2\" and is sloped at 10°.  The iron is ground to match.  An adjustable, 4-sided carbide knife spur helps reduce tear-out across end grain.  A steel fence determines the width of cut, up to 1-5\/16\".  Maximum shoulder depth is 7\/8\".
