The head weighs nearly 4 lbs. (overall axe weight is 7.1 lbs.) This provides plenty of inertia for making deep incisions\n when felling trees.  The cutting edge is 6-3\/4\" wide for making big chips fly.  The head measures 8-1\/2\" deep from the pol to the front edge.  The 31-1\/2\"  hickory handle is\n extra wide where it enters the ax head for added strength and has a strong knob flare to help you keep your grip steady when you swing for the fence.\n  \u003c\/p\u003e\n  \u003cp\u003e\n   You may find that all species of trees “quake”” when you walk into the forest holding this axe, not just the aspens! The head has a brushed steel finish and the handle is varnished with a red end.
