They can also be used to create angled staves for making boxes. The 45° chamfer bit is used for 4-sided boxes. The 30° chamfer bit is used for 6-sided boxes.  The 22-1\/2° chamfer bit is used for 8-sided boxes.\n  \u003c\/p\u003e\n  \u003cp\u003e\n   The chamfer angle is measured from the shank. A 30° chamfer bit has a 30° angle between the cutting edge and the shank.
