Detailed Description

Rare Earth Block Magnets - 1/4 inch - Pack of 10

Neodymium-iron-boron is a fancy way to say super strong magnets. You and I know them as rare earth magnets. A single 1" magnet has more than 10 lbs of pull; two of them face-to-face are virtually inseparable. Smaller ones make fantastic door catches that can pull a twisted cabinet door straight and hold it closed. Use them to hold knockout bars to lathes, chuck keys to drill presses and blade wrenches to table saws. Rare earth magnets have innumerable applications on jigs, fixtures and hardware as well. Handle with care! Separated magnets can snap back and pinch skin.

1/4" x 1/4" wide x 1/8" thick, square magnets. 6 lbs. of pull. 10 per pack.

    RARE EARTH MAGNET SAFETY

  • Rare earth magnets are extremely strong and must be handled with care to avoid personal injury. Fingers and other body parts can get severely pinched between two attracting magnets.

  • Rare earth magnets are not toys. Children should not be allowed to handle rare earth magnets, as they can be dangerous. Fingers and other body parts can get severely pinched between two attracting magnets. Small magnets also pose a choking hazard and should never be swallowed or inserted into any part of the body.

  • Never allow rare earth magnets near a person with a pacemaker or similar medical aid. The strong magnetic fields of the magnet can affect the operation of such devices.

  • Rare earth magnets are brittle, and can peel, crack or shatter if allowed to slam together. Eye protection should be worn when handling these magnets, as shattering magnets can launch pieces at great speeds.

  • The strong magnetic fields of rare earth magnets can damage magnetic media such as credit cards, magnetic ID cards and cassete/VHS tape.

  • Rare earth magnets can damage televisions, VCRs, computer monitors and other CRT displays. Never place rare earth magnets near electronic appliances.

  • Rare earth magnets are not suitable for machining. The magnets are brittle and prone to chipping and cracking.

  • Rare earth magnets will lose their magnetic properties if heated above 175°F (80°C).

  • Rare earth magnets should never be burned, as burning them will create toxic fumes.

  • As with any tool, rare earth magnets must always be handled with care.
