The “sash” in Sash Mortise Chisel means simply that these are made for normal furniture-scale mortising—that is, almost any you're likely to do—as opposed to timber-size joinery. Each of these Sorby blades is individually hardness tested to assure consistent quality.

Handles

Sorby's Sash Mortise Chisels use a Soft Grip handle made from thermoplastic rubber and polypropylene rubber. It is tough, durable with a steel striking cap durability under heavy mallet use. Soft Grip handles are 5-1/8" long. Overall chisel length is 11-3/4".
