Sterling Tool Works Dovetail Rule model DTR-2 is used to check dovetails for squareness. The narrow blade should fit into all except the very narrowest of pin gaps (smaller than 0.090"!). You can use it to diagnose problems before you have gaps in your final joint. It is ungraduated and has a satin chrome finish.

The DTR-2 is 4" long by 0.063″ (1/16″) thick. It's 0.330″ tall on the wide end and 0.090″ tall on the narrow end. This dovetail rule was designed to fit the Starrett 4″ Double Square and Combination Square.

Please Note: This dovetail rule is NOT the model that comes with the Sterling Double Square set. That dovetail rule is the DTR-1 model and is thicker than this DTR-2 model.
