Detailed Description
Travisher
The travisher is an endangered species of woodworking tool, a 3" wide convex spokeshave used for chair seat shaping work
after the adze, scorp and compass plane have roughed in and refined the form. The travisher's handles continue the curve
of the blade, rising out of the way of adjacent surfaces so the tool can reach unobstructed into deep hollows. This is
another reproduction of one of Mike Dunbar's antiques. The radius of the sole is 4-1/2". Maple body.
Blade is shown above for clarity only. It is not available to order separately.
PLEASE NOTE:
The pictures above show the travisher with an ebony sole. Quality ebony is becoming increasingly difficult to get. When ebony availability is limited, Crown Plane will
substitute hornbeam for ebony. The travisher you receive may come with an ebony or a hornbeam sole.
