Description
Whiteside OgeeOgeeThe Ogee profile is the most basic of the compound curve moldings. The ogee consists of a concave over a convex curve of the same radius. The two curves connect smoothly and each finishes in a vertical. Also known as cyma recta.
Whiteside Ogee FilletOgee FilletThe Ogee Fillet profile adds a step at the top off the concave portion of the standard ogee - creating a fillet. You can add another fillet at the bottom of the convex curve by reducing the size of the guide bearing.
Whiteside Cove and BeadCove & BeadThe Cove & Bead profile adds a step in between the curves of the standard ogee profile - creating a fillet in the middle of the profile.
Whiteside French TraditionalFrench TraditionalThe French Traditional profile is similar to the Cove & Bead profile, but the curves are not the same radius. The radius of the convex curve is larger than the radius of the concave curve.
Whiteside Roman OgeeRoman OgeeThe Roman Ogee profile is similar to the ogee, but it switches the convex to the top and the concave to the bottom. The two curves connect smoothly and each finishes in a horizontal. It includes vertical step at the top of the convex curve. Cut depth can be set to create a fillet (as shown in the image) or to blend smoothly into the workpiece surface. Also known as cyma reversa.
Whiteside ClassicalClassicalThe Classical profile adds a step at the top and between the curves of a Roman Ogee - creating a fillet at the top of and in the middle of the profile. You can leave out the top fillet by reducing the depth of cut.
Whiteside Wavy EdgeWavy EdgeThe Wavy Edge profile adds a convex curve at the bottom of the Roman Ogee. This creates a smooth transition to the vertical at the bottom of the profile.
In all cases above, descriptions of profile shape (concave, convex, etc.) refer to the shape of the profile created by the router bit, not to the shape of the bit itself.

About Whiteside

Whiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 in Bill Whiteside's basement where he supplied tooling to NC's huge furniture making industry. Whiteside is still family-owned but has now grown to occupy a 40,000 square foot factory in Claremont, NC.

Whiteside offers a full range of router bit. Their rigid quality control and precision manufacturing techniques have repeatedly resulted in highest ratings in Fine Woodworking magazine tool reviews.

In the years that we've sold Whiteside router bits, we've experienced the company's commitment to excellent quality and superb customer service. We think you'll be pleased each time you use these fine tools in your shop.

We toured the Whiteside factory in Episode 1 of The Highland Woodworker. Watch the whole episode or just the factory tour (about 6:30).
