Detailed Description
Whiteside Multi-Side Router Bit

Multi-Side Joints
Whiteside's Multi-Side Bits (sometimes known as Birdsmouth bits) are used for joining multi side projects. The bit makes a angled notch on each board to be joined into a barrel, planter or column. Depending on setup, you can create either flush or ribbed construction. Ribbed construction if recommended for 12 or 16 sided projects to insure that the joint is strong enough.
All joints are cut on the router table. Six- and eight-sided objects are cut with the exterior face up. Twelve- and sixteen-sided objects are cut with the exterior face down.
Choose your bit by the number of sides your project will have. Six-sided and twelve-sided projects are made with the same bit.

About WhitesideWhiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 in Bill Whiteside's basement where he supplied tooling to NC's huge furniture making industry. Whiteside is still family-owned but has now grown to occupy a 40,000 square foot factory in Claremont, NC.
Whiteside offers a full range of router bits. Their rigid quality control and precision manufacturing techniques have repeatedly resulted in highest ratings in Fine Woodworking magazine tool reviews.
In the years that we've sold Whiteside router bits, we've experienced the company's commitment to excellent quality and superb customer service. We think you'll be pleased each time you use these fine tools in your shop. We toured the Whiteside factory in Episode 1 of The Highland Woodworker. Watch the whole episode or just the factory tour (about 6:30).
