Here's My Woodworking!
By Dennis Nowak Huntersville, NC

I have been doing occasional woodworking for the last 25 years, but never had the time to completely devote to it while I was working. When I retired two years ago I began spending more time on woodworking, especially in between hunting seasons. I have made various pieces of furniture for my home and prefer to work with maple, walnut, oak and mahogany. I don't know what style you would call it, but what I really enjoy is making items out of wood that has been discarded as waste or firewood - yardwood. I use this wood to carve bowls, serving boards, cutting boards, bandsaw boxes, etc. I mostly make things for family and friends, but I also donate items every year to several local charities to raise money in their silent auctions. Keeps me out of trouble, mostly.
