I wanted to share my newly completed shop. My old shop was featured in the Jan 2018 edition of Wood News.
My wife and I wanted to move from our two story house to a ranch home and so the search started. After looking for just over a year we found the almost perfect home, all but the shop would still need to be in the basement. The good news is that the new home had 9' ceilings and a completely unfinished 2400 sq ft. basement. We decided that the shop would be built in 1000 sq ft of the space, compared to about 400 sq ft at the old house.
Construction started after about a month of getting settled. Leveling the floor and finishing with epoxy was the first step. Extending a new electrical panel was next as all machines in the new shop have their own 20 amp line and breakers. After that we installed the new 5hp Oneida dust collection. Several machines have been updated since the old house pictures were taken.
The shop is 24' x 32' with three large windows, plus the dust collector room, air supply room and sink/sharpening rooms. One window was replaced with a 5'x4' window that both panes can be lifted out for sheet goods to be delivered. (120 4x8 sheets of sheetrock came in that way) It is a real joy to work in the new shop although I have not had a lot of time because I have been busy finishing the other 1400 sq ft of space.
