Detailed Description

Aqua Coat Clear Grain Filler

Aqua Coat is a water-based, clear and transparent, wood grain pore filler that’s in a gel format. It fills the pores on open grain woods like walnut, mahogany, oak and ash. Filling the open grain on these woods will help your film-style applied top coats (brushed or sprayed-on finishes that create a film coating) look as glass smooth as possible. Without grain filling, your top coats of finish can have difficulty completely filling the open pores of the wood and thus the final finish will not appear smooth and level.

Aqua Coat is fast drying, taking about 30-45 minutes per coat. Two to three coats are recommended to fill most grain. Aqua Coat can be applied after a stain because it’s water clear and fills the pores while remaining invisible, unlike clay-based pore fillers. If desired, Aqua Coat can be tinted with water based dyes and tints for color matching or contrasting effects. You can top coat over Aqua Coat with solvent and water-based lacquers and polyurethanes, as well as shellac.

It has minimal odor, low VOC’s, is non flammable, cleans up with water, sands easily and has minimal shrinkage. Use a flexible plastic spatula or putty knife to spread and work into the pores (a credit card works).

You can also use it to fill pores on wood projects that you want to paint, like with degraded oak kitchen cabinets you wish to paint over and don’t want the grain appearance to telegraph through the new paint.

Keep from freezing.
