Achieve unmatched surface quality with the simple and straight-forward polishing system from Festool. Color-coded* polishing compounds correlate with the appropriate sponge to deliver the perfect levels of finish. Polishing compounds come in an easy-to-use squeeze bottle with resealable top with a corresponding color band to indicate which sponge is to be used with the polish.
The clean and pleasant scent also provides a more enjoyable work experience without the obnoxious fumes usually associated with polishing compounds. Available in three levels of abrasiveness; medium, medium-fine, and fine, it is now easier to achieve desired results quickly.
Festool recommends that you clean the surface between grades of polishing compound using Festool Finish Cleaner and a microfiber cloth .
Polishing Compounds (Festool calls them MPA - machine polishing agents)
All of Festool's machine polishing compounds (MPA) are water-based and silicone free. They come in 500mL (16.9oz) bottles.
- MPA 5010 - Orange * — Orange “Speed Cut” (Medium) polish is about 5000 grit. Use it with Festool Orange polishing sponges or sheepskin polishing pads. Prep your surface by sanding to 1500 grit before using Speed Cut Orange.
- MPA 9010 - Blue * — Blue Medium-Fine polish is about 9000 grit. Use it with Festool Blue polishing sponges. Use Medium-Fine Blue after Speed Cut Orange.
- MPA 11010 - White * — White Fine polish is about 11000 grit. Use it with Festool White polishing sponges. Use Fine White after Medium-Fine Blue. White will result in a very high gloss polish.
All three of the polishing compounds are very fine. In woodworking applications, you may find that the medium compound is as fine as you'll need. The higher grits are mostly used in finishes that require an extremely high gloss, like automotive finishes.
* Orange, Blue & White are just color codes for the polishes. The actual polishing compounds are all white.
Please Note: You'll see above that the label of the White Polish describes it as “Anti Hologram”. Holograming is a phenomenon in polished surfaces which appears as un-evenness and swirls in and otherwise smooth finish. Sometimes, there will be a rainbow effect as you look at the finish from different angles. This occurs more commonly in automotive finishes, but can also happen with polished wood finishes. MPA 11010 is specifically designed to avoid this problem.
