Sanding as a pleasurable activity comes closer to a reality with Festool's versatile Rotex® Random Orbit Sanders . These exceptionally smooth running sanders provide you with two sanding motions in one machine; a random orbit mode for fine sanding and a rotary/random orbit mode for aggressive stock removal. Switching modes takes just seconds - simply turn a knob. Variable speed motor with electronic soft start handles coarse sanding, fine sanding & polishing for a variety of materials. A sanding pad brake prevents scratching as you move the sander onto or off of the work surface. The patented jetstream system of air movement through the center of the sanding pad (with a vacuum connected) keeps the pad from sucking down to the work surface, thus sanding dust is extracted more efficiently through the pickup holes in the paper. The sandpaper is used more evenly and lasts longer. With their low weight, ergonomic design, dampened vibration and precision sanding ability, these sanders darn near make the chore of sanding pleasurable.
The 5" Rotex® Sander features a 4.2 amp variable speed motor which turns the pad at 300-600 rpm in rotary motion and 3000-6000 rpm in eccentric motion (9/64" stroke.) It comes packed in a Systainer 2 with one 120 grit sanding disc.
