Thomas Flinn & Company's Lynx One Man Crosscut saw is made for cutting logs and beams. It has a large beech primary handle and an auxiliary handle that allows it to be used as a two man saw. (If you're planning on cutting a lot of large logs, you'll be happier with a true Two Man Log Saw .)

Saw Teeth

The main body of the 1/16" thick steel blade has large aggressive teeth in one of two patterns. The first 3-1/2" at the tip of the blade are in the Plain Tooth at 2-1/2tpi (3ppi) to aid in starting the cut.

  • The Great American Tooth pattern has large teeth separated by large gullets. Each 1" wide tooth is composed of three smaller teeth. Each tooth cuts and clears shavings. The gullets help clear waste.
  • The Champion Tooth pattern alternates between a large cutting tooth and a smaller raker tooth - each separated by large gullets. Each 1" wide large tooth is composed of two smaller teeth and each 1/2" wide raker tooth is composed of two smaller teeth. The cutting tooth cuts the wood and the raker tooth clears the waste. Champion tooth is a faster cutting pattern.
  • The Peg Tooth (plain tooth) pattern has uniformly sized and shaped teeth. It used at the tip of these saws because it is easier to start with this pattern.
